THE SHEER DESTRUCTIVE CAPABILITY OF THE WEAPON WAS SEEN AS A POSSIBLE DEFENSE
AGAINST THE BORG, WHOSE VESSELS WERE VERY LARGE TARGETS. THE
DESIGNERS TOOK THE LAUNCHING SYSTEM BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD
